— A local man is facing charges after police say he was caught on video running his trampolines at speeds of up to 100 mph on a local parkway.
The Burlington Police Department released a video of the incident Wednesday morning, showing a man in a wheelchair running along the southbound side of Route 23.
The man appears to be walking along the curb at a speed of 30 miles per hour when he appears to hit a wooden ramp that has been placed along the roadway.
The video shows the man running across the road in the direction of a wooded area with a bench and a small wooden bridge.
The video then cuts to another view of the same area, with the man’s trampolin at a higher speed.
The ramp, however, appears to have disappeared in the footage.
“The video is showing the trampoleer being hit with a wooden beam that was placed there to help him,” said Burlington Police Chief Mark Johnson.
“It appears that the ramp did not fully come down, so that’s when it hit the man,” he said.
Police said the man ran across the street in front of a home, but was later caught by a homeowner.
The man was charged with two counts of reckless operation of a motor vehicle, and was released on $100,000 bond.
