Adidas is on track to have the best-selling sneaker in the United States this year, with a total of 990 pairs, according to the latest NPD sales data.
Nike’s new men’s and women’s sneakers also are on track for the best sales of the year, according the NPD data.
Nikes overall sales were up 1.3 percent from the same time last year.
Adidas’ sneakers, on the other hand, were down 1.2 percent.
Adidas’s new Jordan shoes, which debuted at the 2014 New York Fashion Week, are the top seller of the brand’s brand, which is based in India and is known for its casual footwear.
The sneaker’s popularity is based on the fact that it features a lightweight upper that is made from a flexible mesh and a suede upper, with Nike saying that it’s “the first shoe in history to offer a sole that is both lightweight and breathable.”
Adidas has also been credited with creating the Nike Zoom, which was unveiled at the company’s launch event in New York in February, and the Nike Air Max, which went on sale in April.
